Where to find the best gelato in Rome

After a long day of walking around Rome, the only thing that can make it better is a delicious scoop of gelato. But with so many gelaterie to choose from, it can be hard to know which one has the best. While all gelaterie may look inviting, it’s important to remember that appearance is a key factor when it comes to finding the best gelato in Rome. Gelato that is piled high in the bins is likely to be of lower quality and may contain fillers or large batches that are not fresh. Furthermore, flavors like pistachio should be pale green in color, not a neon hue. This is a good rule of thumb to follow when looking for the best gelato experience. With that in mind, here are my favorite places to get a scoop of Rome’s best gelato:

Guttilla Alta Gelateria Italiana Roma

Guttilla Alta Gelateria Italiana Roma is my favorite place to get gelato. It offers a variety of flavors, including the delectable pistacchio gelato, which is packed with real pistacchios. Prices are very reasonable, and the staff are always polite and friendly. Those who are lactose intolerant or vegan will be pleased to discover the range of dairy-free options. Customers can choose from a selection of gelato that is served in a cone or cup, or even as a gelato bar. Flavor options include raspberry, lemon, nutella, pistachio, chocolate and vanilla, among others. All in all, Guttilla Alta Gelateria Italiana Roma is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Grom

Grom is a beloved Italian gelateria chain that has been delighting customers with some of the best gelato in Rome and the entire country. This chain originates from Turin, in the northern region of Italy. The gelato served here is always fresh and delicious, and for those looking for something new, Grom even offers a special flavor every month. One of the most popular options is the Crema Di Grom, a delightful concoction of pastry cream, Venezuela chocolate chips, and biscuits. Those who visit Grom will be sure to experience a unique Italian treat like no other.

Neve di Latte Gelateria

Neve di Latte is a gelateria with a difference. All their delicious ice creams are created using organic ingredients such as DOC and DOP hazelnuts, pistachios, peanuts and biodynamic milk from Upper Bavaria, with the added bonus of being free of dyes, refined sugars and chemical preservatives. Their flavors are light and delicate, but still intensely flavorful. Romeing Recommends their dark chocolate with orange, pistachio, fig sorbet and basil sorbet, which are some of the most delectable flavors available. With their use of seasonal fruits, their ice creams are sure to tantalize your taste buds. Neve di Latte is the perfect place to indulge your cravings for creamy, luxurious ice creams.

Come Il Latte

Come il Latte is a gelato shop that caters to both locals and tourists alike. The menu features a wide variety of flavors ranging from the traditional to the exotic. Customers can choose from classics such as chocolate, stracciatella, and lemon sorbet, or try something a bit more unusual like parmesan, sweet corn, or the unique brie, blueberry, and caramelized hazelnut combination. All of the gelato is made in-house with fresh, grass-fed cow’s milk and local fruit.

Gelateria La Romana

Gelateria la Romana is an ice cream parlor that is an undeniable sensation in Rome. Not only does it draw in a large crowd of locals, but the lines of people waiting to get their hands on the delicious treats are unbroken and seemingly never ending. It’s a sight that is truly surreal. What sets this parlor apart from the rest? For starters, the incredible caramel and chocolate that guests can choose to fill their cones with or to drizzle on top of their ice cream. Not to mention the delicious ice cream brioche sandwich. The combination of the sweet treats and the constant line of customers make Gelateria la Romana an unforgettable experience. Even if it means waiting in line, it’s definitely worth it.

Rome’s climate also provides perfect gelato weather all year, making it the perfect place to indulge in this delicious treat!
